Thank you for your interest in purchasing "Doc," my 1982
Porsche 911 Turbo (930). If you are indeed shopping for a 930, and
not just kicking tires, I don't need to spend time telling you how
truly amazing and timeless the 930 is. So I won't. What I will spend
time doing is detailing the history of this particular 930, along
with sharing more pictures of one particular car than you ever wanted
to see. I'll also include a few videos for good measure.
Why are you selling if you love this automobile so much?
You might be wondering why I am selling. In short, while I have
dreamed about owning a 911 Turbo since I was very young, my wife
and I have decided to purchase a home. With that said, please do
not contact me trying to haggle in any way, shape or form. I am
not interesting in trading a motorcycle or boat for my 930. I
am not interested in negotiating. My price is fair, and my
price is firm. You are looking at an incredibly fine
example of quite possibly one of the greatest Porsches of all time.
The Porsche that set the standard for supercars in it's day. A 27
year old car, that will give modern day, technology loaded sports
cars a run for their money. A 27 year old car that has 300hp, and
sprints from 0-60 in about 5.0 seconds. A 27 year old car that turns
the heads of both young boys (and gals) who drool as it passes them,
and old men who remember dreaming of this car in their youth. The
timeless appeal of the Porsche 930 will ensure that depreciation
is a word that will not enter your mind if you purchase this car.
This is not true for ALL 930s, but for those who have been cared
for in such a way that the originality of the car is the appeal.
This is one of those 930s. While it is not 100% stock (period correct
tape deck, and R-134 A/C conversion, see pictures below), it is
as close as you will get, with low low miles, without paying upwards
of $50,000.
Why European spec?
If you question how this is a European spec 930, when you know
they were not imported from 1980-1985, you should know there was
a "gray" import market taking place during the time the
930 was not officially imported to the U.S. by Porsche. Individuals
would purchase the cars from European dealership, bring them stateside
with a quick trip to a shop for an air pump and catalytic converter,
and they would be approved by the EPA for use on American roads.
The problem with purchasing gray market Euro 930s today is that
you might not know when it was imported. That is, it might be a
1982 930, however, it wasn't imported until 1989 and they swapped
out the speedometer with one that essentially reset the mileage
on the odometer. Of course, that is not the case with my 930. I
have all the documentation which proves it was imported directly
from the dealership, brand new, in 1982. You will of course receive
all documentation, books, and records if you purchase my 930.
You might ask, why I spent all this time putting together this
page to sell my 930. Well, I understand with the internet, alot
of purchases, including cars, are made sight unseen. If you don't
have the ability to come see the car before you purchase, I wanted
you to have the peace of mind that everything there is to know about
this Porsche is listed on the page you are reading now. I have 100%
feedback on eBay, and two of those were the sale of two different
Porsches (personal cars, I am in no way shape or form a dealer).
One was the sale of a 17' Bayliner Cuddie. All three were sight
unseen, the buyer drove or flew in to pick up, and drove home (or
in the case of the boat, towed).
So with me, what you see is what you get. Enjoy...

HISTORY
This stock, 300hp, 3.3L horizontally opposed 6-cyl, European spec
Porsche 930 has a very unique history.
My 1982 Porsche 930 was first owned by a Mr. Richard Camputaro,
a CPA from Daytona Beach, Florida. It was purchased and imported
for Mr. Camputaro by Mr. Anthony Schimenti, founder of Eurosport
Daytona. Eurosport Daytona is one of the leading manufactures and
importers of fine and rare automotive accessories, including the
"Europlate" their one-of-a-kind flagship European style
license plate for European automotive enthusiasts.
As a potential buyer, you will be pleased to know the importation
took place immediately after purchasing from Pon's Automobielhandel
B.V. Porsche dealership in Amersfoort, Netherlands.

The purchase took place on May 16th, 1982, the 930 was imported
on May 24th, 1982, and certified by the United States Environmental
Protection Agency on June 7th, 1982, by the National Highway Traffic
Safety Administration on August 27th, 1982, and by the United States
Department of Transportation shortly thereafter. From the documents
I have, it appears the U.S. DOT was behind the power curve (as noted
in a "third" letter from Tony to the DOT, showing the
EPA's findings on the modifications to the car). The federal government
behind the power curve? No possible... :-)

After the purchase took place in Amersfoort, the 930 was immediately
shipped to Frankfurt, Germany (see above), then to JFK Airport,
New York. Automotive Compliance Lab, Inc. performed the "Motor
Vehicle Emission Test" in order to certify the 930 for use
on American roads due to the fact it was a European spec car. The
emission control modification was performed by Sports and Imports,
based out of Pittsville, Massachusetts. The "conversion"
was limited to an evaporative canister, and air pump, and a catalytic
converter. Since the age of the car no longer requires these items,
the air pump has been removed (I think the catalytic converter is
still on the car).

The car was cared for by Mr. Camputaro until 1991, when it was
sold to Mr. Tom Selby. He owned it for a very short period of time,
until my friend's dad purchased it in early 1993, with 54,984 miles.
My friend cared for it from 1993 until the end of 2007, when he
sold it to me with the grand total of 62,276 miles. If you do the
math, that's about 520 miles per year.
I first laid eyes on this 930 when I was in high school, in 1997.
The car sat in my friend's father's garage collecting dust mostly,
being driven on occasion just to keep the fluids moving. It was
well taken care of, and maintenance done was performed mostly by
the Porsche dealership in Orlando, Florida, as well as Zotz Garage,
one of the top independent Porsche shops in Central Florida. I told
my friend's dad I would buy his car some day. That day came at the
end of 2007. This Porsche is truly amazing, and I am very disappointed
to have the need to part with it. Sometimes life has different plans
for you though!

DESCRIPTION
What you are reading about is a 1982 European-spec, Porsche 911
Turbo, or commonly known as "930". This 930 is Platinum
Metallic over tan leather seats, with dark brown dashboard and accents.
The tan and dark brown is as classy as it gets. Below is a list,
in detail of the condition of the interior and exterior of this
930. If there is something you do not see listed, but you would
like to know the condition of it, please email me and I will post
it.

DASHBOARD
The dashboard is near flawless. NO CRACKS OF ANY KIND. The dashboard
is the old style Porsche dashboard, that is, when it was leather
covered. The leather has not been cut or cracked in any way. It
is supple and soft, as it is kept moist with high dollar leather
conditioner, as is the rest of the leather in the car. The dashboard
is kept covered any time the car is in the sun (which is rare),
to protect it from the sun. Generally speaking, I cover the entire
car with the factory cover, if it will be in the sun for more than
an hour.
CARPET
All the carpet is near perfect, with no major defects or stains.
The floor mats are original, however, I do have a newer set of Porsche
tan floor mats that I keep over the original ones for the obvious
reason of protecting the original floor mats (both front and back).
The carpet sections of each of the two door panels are flawless.

FRONT SEATS
Quite possibly the most looked at part of a purchase such as this,
because you cannot hide the wear and tear from a seat. Seats show
time and use, however, these seats truly show neither. The driver's
seat shows ever so slightly a bit more use than the passenger seat,
which is reasonable. However, up until a year ago they had sheep
skin covers, so the leather was rarely touched. The sheep skin covers
were very old, and I drive the car so rarely I have not yet replaced
them. The seats are all original, soft Porsche leather. The same
conditioner used on the dash is used on the seats (along with the
rest of the car). I literally rub the leather down with the conditioner
using my bare hands, and then buff with a microfiber towel. They
look incredible for being 27 years old.

REAR SEATS & REAR DASH
Much like the front seats, the rear seats are near perfect. They
show virtually no sign use, let alone 27 years of existence. They
fold down to show the "turbo" script embroidered. The
leather on the rear dash shows no sign of sun damage or fading.

EXTERIOR
Platinum Metallic over camel leather is a gorgeous, gorgeous color
combination. The platinum metallic color looks beautiful in all
settings, from sunrise to sunset, or with the sun behind the clouds
(as seen in the snow picture).

NOTE: The car has NEVER been
driven in the snow. I merely pulled it out of the garage to start
it and move the fluids around, and thought I'd get a shot of it
in the snow. Again, it has never, ever been driven in the snow.
Furthermore, only once in the last year was caught in a mild rain
shower, and of course after pulling in the garage the rain water
was cleaned off.

Overall, the paint is a 9 out of 10, with a 10 being
Porsche Factory Museum quality. The paint is in very, very good
shape. It is mostly original with only minor paintwork on the driver
door and quarter panel to correct for a few stone chips and one
door ding from a very, very inconsiderate citizen. No expense was
spared when undertaking the job of repairing the paint. I have full
receipts and documentation of the work. The match on the color is
perfect, and even under indoor florescent lighting, there is no
sign of repaint.

WHEELS & TIRES
The tires are only the SECOND SET of tires to go on this 930. That
shows two things. First, the miles are very very low, and the car
has been driven "kind" -- i.e., this car has not been
tracked or raced, or driven hard to the point of needing new tires
every 10,000 miles.

Second, the car has always been garaged. The tires
show no sun damage, and no cracking. Why haven't I replaced the
tires, you might ask? Well, I doubt there are many 930s out there
who can say they are on their second set of tires, so I thought
it was pretty cool.
The wheels are in near show car shape. They are perfect,
straight and true. They show no wear that you would expect from
a 27 year old car. They look like they just came out of the box.
I keep them treated with Vaseline, per Porsche's recommendation
from the '80s for the care and feeding of Fuch aluminum forged wheels.
The wheels are 7x16 in the front, with 225 wide Dunlop
tires, and 9x16 in the rear, with 245 Dunlop tires. This is quite
a stout wheel for 1982, and even measures up to the race wheels
of today's standards. The 930 Fuch wheels are truly the pinnacle
of the Fuch line of wheels, and at the time (and still might be)
Fuchs were the lightest weight production wheel on the road. You
will see 930 Fuch wheels in various marketplaces for upwards of
$5,000-$6,000, without tires.
